A framework for figuring out what to charge for a consulting project
There is no perfect formula, but there are patterns.
At some point you’ve seen enough projects to know where scope expands, you understand which problems are messy and which ones are straightforward, you get better at spotting when a client is underestimating the work.
The trick is to start asking better questions than trying to calculate a perfect number.
When I’m pricing a project, these are the five things I look at before putting a number in a proposal.
